The Island of Krace
Measuring slightly larger than 11 days wide at it’s widest point and nearly 19 days long, the majestic mountains that ring Krace vault from the sea in a riot of earth and stone to an average height of almost a thousand strides. Beyond this imposing facade, the island grows only more wondrous with every step, for Krace is the birthplace of the largest concentration of Cuhainne trees in the known world. They emerge from the unseen and unexplored floor of the Dark Valley and erupt upwards to try to claim the heights of the world for themselves. In a constant race for the clouds, the trees match and surpass the mountains that ring them on all sides. The highest point on the GreenIsle is not rocky and brown, but leaf covered and supple in the wind. The tops of the trees have woven together to form an almost solid sheet of wood and leaf. Once one bridges the gap from rock to wood it was possible, even then in the first days of the colony, to walk to any shore. It is a trading port of the greatest type, open to any and all comers with light tariffs and liberal trading laws. |
